Mammograms don't save lives?
----------
National Post
Another example of why women question medical authority: a
13-year Canadian study followed more than 50,000
Canadian women -- half with annual mammograms, half
without -- for 13 years, and found no statistical
difference in the number who died from breast cancer. (09/04/02)

Florida DCF has employees with criminal pasts
----------
Miami Herald
Florida's embattled Department of Children and Families
employs almost 200 people who have been arrested and
punished for an array of felonies including child
molestation, child abuse, and welfare fraud against the
agency itself. (09/08/02)

Pro-life, pro-choice both pro-privacy
----------
QC Times
Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa has an unlikely ally in
its fight to protect the rights of its patients: an
anti-abortion group. Both groups believe that the police
have no right to subpoena the medical records of women. (09/04/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/358696010.html
The Johns TV show
----------
The Denver Channel
The "Johns TV" show has been broadcasting names and images
of men convicted of soliciting prostitution in order to
deter the "crime." Denver is considering a similar
approach for drug users. (09/03/02)

Map of L.A. sex offenders

Study examines abortion aftermath
----------
Yahoo
by Janice Billingsley
In an analysis of 173,000 low-income California women by a
pro-life institute, deaths from suicides, accidents and
natural causes were all significantly higher among those
who'd had an abortion, compared to women who delivered
their babies. (09/05/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/6569940.html
No pardon in Nigerian stoning
----------
Agence France-Presse
The governor of the home state of Nigerian single-mother
Amina Lawal, sentenced to death by stoning for adultery,
will not intervene. The federal government has also said
it is powerless to intervene in an Islamic Sharia court
case. (09/09/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/478093496.html
A controversial new treatment for paedophiles
----------
The Age
The Memmonite Church in Toronto, Canada, started a program
for paedophiles six years ago to help them not to
reoffend. Volunteers are encouraged to go for walks and play
sports and computer games with offenders. Britain's Home
Office is supporting three trial programs based on the
Canadian model. (09/10/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/497001060.html
Officers seek review of rape case
----------
Yahoo/AP
A group of black police officers is asking federal
authorities to look into the investigation of the 1989
beating and rape of a female jogger in Central Park,
saying police may have been "overzealous" in pinning the
crime on five teenagers, all of whom were black or
Hispanic. (09/10/02)

More women carrying pistols for self defense
----------
Legally Armed
by staff
"32 states have laws allowing citizens to carry weapons.
Men still hold the highest number of permits or licenses
but, women have increased their percentage dramatically.
What has changed the most over the years regarding
women, is that they are know more knowledgeable
regarding what type of handgun they want to buy and
carry." (09/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/971980784.html
Is fast-track domestic violence program constitutional?
----------
Equity Feminism
by Brian Carnell
Carnell looks at one city's domestic violence program that
pressures a defendant into accepting a plea bargain
within 24 to 48 hours of arrest by threatening him/her
with either a "guilty" plea now or a long prison term
later. Is it constitutional? (09/06/02)

Feminist 'heroine' says killing husband an option
----------
Equity Feminism
by Brian Carnell
Elizabeth Morgan, who fled to New Zealand in the 1980s
rather than allow her husband unsupervised visitation
with their daughter, recently testified as a witness in
an attempted murder case. She had advised the female

option. (08/27/02)

Freedom of associate includes nonassociation
----------
WorldNetDaily
by Walter Williams
The true test of one's commitment to freedom of association
comes when he allows people to be free to voluntarily
associate in ways he deems despicable. Forced
association is not freedom of association. (09/04/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/130060766.html
Access denied
----------
FrontPageMagazine
by Christina Hoff Sommers
The absence of intellectual diversity, such as competing
visions of feminism, in our institutions of higher
learning is a national disgrace that many have deplored
but few have taken practical measures to remedy. (09/05/02)

Men need emotional support as well
----------
Victoria Times Colonist
by Katherine Dedyna
Society assumes that men can always fend for themselves
emotionally and financially, even though family breakup
often impoverishes men as well as women. It is not true

Men's rights at women's expense
----------
Boston Globe
by Cathy Young
Young argues, "We need a broad recognition, both legal and
cultural, that deceiving a man about paternity is every
bit as wrong as getting a woman pregnant and abandoning
her." (09/09/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/489687757.html
Women's health care is contentious
----------
The Independent
by Natasha Walter
In the wake of the Earth Summit, Walter explains how
women's health care in the 3rd World is not as simple as

is a moral and political battleground. (09/10/02)

----------
The Crimson
by Wendy J. Murphy and Ellenor J. Honig

----------
Equity Feminism
by Brian Carnell
Carnell writes, "The Christian Science Monitor's Marilyn
Gardner wrote an interesting article about 'deadbeat'
