Hello ifeminists:

A gracious "hello" to all and sundry! Here's an early invitation to
drop by the Laissez Faire Book author's forum
<http://www.laissezfairebooks.com/cgi-local/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?conf=DCConfI
D1> where I'll be starting a stint (May 23rd) as guest author to discuss
ifeminism in general and the new ifeminist anthology, "Liberty
for Women.
<http://www.laissezfairebooks.com/product.cfm?op=view&pid=FM8600>" Although
registration is required, participation is free and I'd love to hear from
you. Just post your questions on the Bulletin Board and I'll check in every
day to answer you.

The new editorials are now posted on the front page -- what I like to
think of as the "lobby" -- of ifeminists.com. My FOXNews/ifeminist editorial
is entitled "Lawsuits Fueling Health Care Crisis"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0514.html>; Glenn
Sacks argues that "Child Support Bill Will Help Newly Released Prisoners
Rebuild Their Lives"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0514a.html>; and
George Getz says the "Fat Law Should be Repealed!"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0514b.html> -- look
for the tongue-in-cheek bits in the latter.

Stay tuned for the new contest to be announced next week. And drop by
the chat room this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. EST where our hostess, Sunni, is
waiting with a smile to greet you.
<http://www.ifeminists.com/interaction/chat>

Now ... onto the main event...

                             -- Wendy McElroy, mac@ifeminists.com

MIT surrenders scientific method
----------
Natioanl Association of Scholars
by James Steiger
Steiger writes, "Like so many 'gender equity' studies,
MIT's latest begin by assuming that an imbalance of the

This faulty assumption is but the first of many
   methodological errors." (05/02)
