Hello ifeminists:

I am freshly returned from lecturing on ifeminism at the Commonwealth
Club in San Francisco and at a speech and panel at FEECon (Las Vegas). I
don't think the events could have gone any better. Many thanks to the
Independent Institute for supporting me and the newly released ifeminist
anthology "Liberty for Women"
<http://www.independent.org/tii/catalog/cat_LFW.html> at these events.
Thanks as well to Mary Lou for posting news items on the ifeminist front
page in my absence and to Tooch (J.D. Tuccille) for making sure the last
Insider Update arrived in your e-mailbox. Louis James and I had a great time
meeting some of the faces behind the e-names with whom we'd been
corresponding, like Kirsten Tynan. However, I still contend that Kirsten
*started* the food fight at dinner.

And the winner is ... knellbo! At least, that is the Ifeminist
UserName of the winning entry on the chunk of 19th century ifeminist history
that was our prize for April. (Respect for privacy leads me to not mention
real names.) The contest for May will be announced next week so stay tuned
because it will be the best one offered thus far.

New editorials have been posted on the front page of ifeminists.com.
My FOXNews/ifeminist column, "Are Parents Boycotting Public Schools"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0507.html>; a
wonderful piece by Cathy Cuthbert, "Raise Your Own"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0507b.html>; and an
explosive editorial by Glenn Sacks, "Is There a Batterer in the U.S.
Senate?" <http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0507a.html>

As always, the incomparable Sunni will be hostessing a Sunday chat at
<http://www.ifeminists.com/interaction/chat>, this Sunday, 9:00 p.m. EST. It
is free, it is easy, and the people are friendly.

Now ... onto the main event!
