Hello ifeminists:
Winter is almost here and I can hardly wait. One of the best moments of
every year is when the snow is thick enough to take my dogs for a skid. They
get their snow-legs fast enough but that first walk is fun!
Thanks to Nancy for reminding me that the first Sunday of December
each year is "Capitalism Day" -- actually it is "International Freedom &
Prosperity Day -- for the Celebration of the Principles and Possibilties of
Capitalism." (BTW, I don't like the word "capitalism" despite my love of
Rand and her book "Capitalism: the Unknown Ideal." I favor the term "free
market.") Nevertheless, 2001 will see the first ever international rally
for capitalism. For more info see <http://www.WalkForCapitalism.org/>.
The ifeminists.com/FOXNews.com editorial this week is a controversial
one. I've had reason to question certain aspects of RAWA (the Revolutionary
Association of the Women of Afghanistan) and I'd like some straight forward
simple answers. What are the odds I'll get them?
<http://www.ifeminists.com/>
This just in!... the world is still going mad. And the maddest act of
all would be to join the party willingly. Instead, I think I'll concentrate
on everything that was important to me before September 11th, the things
over which I exercise some control. Like checking on my neighbor who has the
flu. Making spaghetti tonight for my husband because that's his favorite.
Tormenting my 100-lb German Shepherd by throwing his squeaky toy
up-and-down, up-and-down before tossing it. (I can't fake throwing it
anymore ... he's on to that gambit.)
And while *you* are busy living your lives, I hope the InsiderUpdate
remains a source of information and entertainment. I wish you the best. Stay
safe and sane for another week.
On to the main event ...

Does sexual liberation require commitment?
----------
Boundless

promised a humane and realistic approach to human

proven to underestimate both the value and the power of
sexual activity." (10/21/01)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/727917175.html
Funds to pregnancy centers blur church-state line
----------
Women's Enews
by Cynthia L. Cooper
"Crisis pregnancy centers are using government funds to
deliver the Gospel and to convert pregnant women to
fundamentalist Christianity, advocates charge, not to
provide social services or even rudimentary health
care." Of course, pro-lifers have made the same
accusation in reverse regarding agencies like Planned
Parenthood. (10/21/01)

The farce of feminism?
----------
Harvard Crimson

Rubins writes, "Perhaps there was once a time when feminism
was warranted, when its name was not synonymous with

positive change." The author makes many valid points but
overlooks individualist feminism as a consistent voice
for true equality. (10/16/01)

Multiculturalism vs. feminism
----------
Reason
by Cathy Young

Western origin, and few would dispute that the
improvements in women's status around the world in the
last hundred years have been largely a result of Western
influence." (10/18/01)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/244973650.html
Revolt of the Primitive (book review)
----------
Townhall
by Howard S. Schwartz

http://www.free-market.net/rd/247156418.html
Thobani's PC hypocrisy
----------
ifeminsits.com
by Wendy McElroy
