Hello ifeminists:

The Bulletin Board is buzzing these days with lively (and generally
civil) debate. Hot threads include: Classical Liberalism on Same Sex
Marriage, and Open borders = the end of freedom? As you can tell, the
discussion ranges widely. Drop in and feel free to "lurk" until you are
comfortable in posting.

Last week's ifeminist editorial made it onto Rush Limbaugh's radio
talk show yesterday. The transcript of the segment is on his main page
today and should be available later on in the archive. This is fun!

August has cooled off up here in Ontario (at last!) and has become
brilliantly sunny in the wake of one of my favorite spectator events --
thunderstorms. Brad and I turned off all our ham radio gear and our
computers then went out on the deck to watch the lightning strike in a
panorama of flashes. I hope each of you is enjoying the last phase of
summer as we slide into fall.

      Now...onto the main event...

Book on how to identify violent women
----------
by Elizabeth Judge
Erin Pizzy, the founder of Britain’s first refuge for
battered women, has a forthcoming book entitled "A

Why feminists support Condit
----------
by Wendy McElroy
"Commentators who yell 'hypocrisy!' at the feminist silence
over Gary Condit's adultery with Chandra Levy are
missing the point. Politically correct feminists have
always been silent about adultery ... except when it can

Non-Coercion: Concept and Context
----------
by Thomas L. Knapp
"The only question remaining is whether Objectivists fail
to make common cause with libertarians through error --
or through evil. I have too much respect for too many
Objectivists to immediately assume the latter, but
decades of irrationality demand either correction or
   repudiation." (Web version 08/10/01; previously
published in print edition of The Free Radical).

The Myth of the deadbeat dad
----------
by Suzy Hansen
Low-income single fathers are notorious for being deadbeat
