Hello ifeminists:

I'm back from vacation and, although there is no snow on the
ground yet (worst luck!), the weather has turned bracingly cold with
clear indications that my favorite season is imminent. Yep. I'm
talking about
winter. The white, crisp months during which I build a fire in the
hearth every day and chug steaming bowls of soup. Bring it on --
subzero. I'm ready.

Many thanks to Tooch (Jerome D. Tuccille) for posting the
editorials on the front page where they are now available for your
perusal. My FOXNews/ifeminist column is entitled "Battered Woman
Syndrome: Sham or Science"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1022.html>;
Glenn Sacks and Dianna Thompson's coauthored piece is "California
Governor Davis Preserves and Protects Paternity Fraud
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1022a.html>;
Trea McBee, who is becoming a regular columnist, contributes "Pass
the Prozac"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1022b.html>;
and Amara Graps sent in a piece entitled "Frozen egg birth begins a
reproduction revolution for women," which was inspired by a news item
posted on the ifeminist front page
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1022c.html>.
Enjoy!

I know that everyone must be getting annoyed by the fundraising
appeals that seem to be increasing exponentially every month BUT...I
want to remind everyone that ifeminists.com and the InsiderUpdate is
entirely funded by contributions. Your support, however modest, would
be greatly appreciated. Information on how to donate follows this
commentary. Thanks! And if you can't contribute ... don't feel badly.

Now ... onto the main event ...

----------
Planned Prenthood Mar Monte
The Michigan Court of Appeals has ruled that a pregnant

old at the time of adoption, was "uncontrollable and
    vicious". (10/18/02)

Book hammers feminist agenda
----------
CNS News
by Michael L. Betsch
A conservative watchdog group has published a critical
    examination of America's feminist organizations,
alleging that a prominent feminist group wildly inflates
its membership and that another, formed to encourage
girls to play sports, advises girls on how to sue for
    discrimination. (10/11/02)
http://www.free-market.net/rd/183889012.html

Conservatives push marriage promotion programs

Women's eNews

----------
ifeminists.com
by Wendy McElroy
Sweeping up the debris of political correctness means
demolishing the laws, the institutions and the

Can abolishing sole custody curb divorce?
----------
ifeminists.com
by Glenn Sacks and Dianna Thompson
Given the tremendous social cost of divorce and
fatherlessness -- the huge increases in juvenile crime,
youth suicide, school dropouts and a wide assortment of
social ills -- keeping marriages together should be a
national priority. Changing the way custody is
determined is the first step. (10/09/02)

Sex offender map may lead to witch hunt
----------

Feminist rage before racial issues
----------
Village Voice
by Rivka Gewirtz Littl
The feminist treatment of the 1990 "jogger rape" case in
New York city made it clear that feminism was to take
priority over racial concerns expressed by critics of
the trial. Now it appears that the convicted men may be
    innocent. (01/16/02)

Will CEDAW die in this year's Senate?
----------
CWFA
by Sara E. Weltz
The political infighting of the Senate seems to be blocking
all substantial discussions. On a positive note it's
also keeping CEDAW's ugly head from being seen in the
Senate before the November 5 elections. (10/11/02)

Female correspondents remember Vietnam

The right to be wrong on campus
----------
Boston Globe
by Cathy Young
The Washington University law school in St. Louis is one
