Hello ifeminists:
"Once more into the breach, dear friends..." In other words, another
Insider Update! I trust you all have had a politically incorrect week since
the last one.
I'd like to welcome Sunni Maravillosa as our ifeminist of the month
for March. Sunni's smiling face is on the ifeminist frontpage
<http://www.ifeminists.com> along with the latest weekly editorials:
"Identity Politics Dismisses Shared Humanity"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0305.html> by me;
and, "Tennessee Shared Parenting Bill Could Help Children, Reduce Divorce"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/0305a.html> by Glenn
Sacks. Enjoy!
Ifeminists.com is trying a new line of "attack." In conjunction with
Bureaucrash (hi Jason!), we are launching a speaker's bureau to bring
lecturers onto campuses. For more information, please write Jason Talley at
jason@jdtalley.com. I will deliver the Bureau's first lecture on March 20th,
7:00 p.m. EST at the Humanities Theatre of the University of Waterloo.
Attendance is free.
If you haven't checked out the Bulletin Board recently, then you are
cheating youself. The vigorous discussion surrounding the Andrea Yates case
<http://www.ifeminists.com/interaction/forum/feminism0203/messages/591797990
.html> is only one of the many threads. We keep archiving to keep the BB
download fast but people *will* keep talking! ;-)
I'd like to ask readers to do the site a favor. Could you send out
this copy of the InsiderUpdate to your "friends list," to family ... to
anyone you think would be interested in receiving it or in browsing
ifeminists.com? I would greatly appreciate your doing so.
Now....onto the main event!

Reimer gives a fairly balanced report on Christie Caywood
and her Second Amendment Sisters activism at Mount
Holyoke College, then devastates the line between

Wascally wabbit made us laugh ... when it was legal
----------
Wall Street Journal
by Daniel Henninger
"The death of Bugs Bunny's father brings home how much the
laughter has gone out of American life. As soon as you
step outside the nation's last unmonitored behavior zone
-- the short distance between your eyes and the home
television -- you've gotta watch where, when, at what
and at whom you laugh. How'd that happen?" (03/01/02)

Debate, don't demonize, embryonic research
----------
The Age
by Margaret Wertheim
"When does a human body become a human person?" Wertheim's
answer, "I feel conflicted on this matter. What I do
know is that medical science is presenting us with
choices that humans have never had before. Rather than
shouting at one another, we need to sit down together
and talk. Above all, we need to listen." (02/03/02)
