Hello ifeminists:
If "Z" is for Zorro, what is the mark of El Dildo Bandito -- the
outraged father who removed the ceramic penis display from the Boulder
public library? James Hanback, our occasional guest columnist explores this
question and offers insight into how the Bandito incident is galvanizing the
Men's Movement. My weekly FOX News/ifeminist editorial provides a woman's
slant, which is strangely compatible. <http://www.ifeminists.com/> James, we
have to start arguing more!
The ifeminist Christmas book give-away has three winners from last
week -- Diane R., Jennifer K., and Deann H. -- all of whose books will be
shipped today. Congratulations! The three books offered this week are: an
ifeminist classic, "The Story of an African Farm" by Olive Schreiner (1927
edition); the pro-gun paperback "Dial 911 and Die" by Richard W. Stevens;
and "The Sexy Factor: Gender Differences at Home and Work" by Frances
Kendall. For a good chance to win, send an email to mac@ifeminists.com with
CONTEST in the subject line and a ranking in preference of which books you
wish to receive. Don't be discouraged or reluctant to enter more than one
contest. Book will be offered each week until the cornucopia that is
Christmas arrives.
I am literally thrilled to announced that Claire Wolfe has emerged from
her long hiatus and is in the process of updating her website Wolfe's Lodge.
Meanwhile, her new material is at
<http://www.curleywolfe.net/cw/Lodge.html/> Claire is not only a friend, she
is the best d*mned writer on privacy issues I've ever encountered.
Ifeminists.com and Menactivism.org are happy to announce our first
joint chat room event, which will be held at
<http://www.mensactivism.org> -- check the left-hand side of the site for
the chat room listing -- on this Sunday, December 2nd, at 9:00 EST. The
topic is the El Dildo Bandito incident, with a possible appearance by the
Bandito himself. (He showed up at the last mensactivism chat.) Using the
room is free, very easy, and informal. Be prepared for a bit of chaotic
discussion, however. That's part of the charm. I hope to see you there.
Now...onto the main event!

Weekly Standard
by Mary Eberstadt
Eberstadt blasts Naomi Wolf's latest book "Truth, Lies, and
the Unexpected on the Journey to Motherhood" in which
Wolf seems to be making motherhood into a catastrophic

Arm the Afghan women

equally oppressive toward females — women have to
protect themselves to remain free." (11/20/01)
