Hello ifeminists:
After four cities, seven airports, three time zones and six days of
traveling, I am back at ifeminists.com. Many thanks to Steve Trinward for
the meticulous care with which he managed the site in my absence. I promised
a write-up of my (mis)adventures in air travel but the truth is that the
experience was alternately boring and irritating. Boring because of the long
waits in long lines, irritating because of being "wanded," patted down,
bag-searched, I.D.ed, questioned and intimidated by the sight of National
Guards with machine guns. I find myself without anything of value to
communicate about the experience -- beyond the obvious, that is.
The FOXNews.com/ifeminist editorial for this week is entitled "The UN
should provide aid, not impose social policy"
(http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2001/1113.html) and is a
commentary on the current conflict between the UN and the Vatican. As part
of ifeminists.com's extended hand of goodwill to the Men's Movement, I'm
pleased to announce the first of what I hope will be frequent guest
editorials by James R. Hanback, Jr.: "Men Are the Expendable Sex"
(http://www.free-market.net/rd/457405516.html). Both editorials are
available at <http://www.ifeminists.com/>. Welcome James! Also Trudy Schuett
has asked me to announce the launching of CyberManbooks, a new man-friendly
e-publishing venture that is inviting authors who are sympathetic to the
Men's Movement to submit material.
<http://www.cyberManbooks.com/>
I stumbled across the first reference I've seen of Afghan women taking
up arms against the Taliban (the article link is included below). I would
appreciate any further information readers could send me on Afghan rebel
women. If ever women need to be armed in self-defense it is the women of
Afghanistan. Why is no one championing that position?
Some confusion has resulted from a recent e-mailing. Let me clear it
up by stating that ifeminists.com is not affiliated with the Libertarian
Party although members of the LP are welcome to draw upon this resource
freely and join in any activity offered. Nor am I a member of the LP, as the
e-mailing stated.
Now ... onto the main event.

----------
The News Telegraph
More than 67,000 cases of rape and sexual assaults
against children were reported last year in
AIDS-stricken South Africa, compared with 37,500 in
1998. Unreported incidents could be 10 times that

----------
James R. Hanback, Jr.
by James R. Hanback, Jr.

"The New Thought Police: Inside the Left's Assault on Free
Speech and Free Minds" is an amazing tell-all book about

Are Hollyweird and academia finally getting the message?
----------
Jewish World Review
by Linda Bowles
Noting Rosie O'Donnell's recent apparent epiphany -- she
actually likes George Bush now -- and recent polls of
college students, by the Institute of Politics at
Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, showing
overwhelming support for the war, Bowles wonders if the
days of political correctness and such might not be in
decline. (11/06/01)

Women's progress shelved as Islamic world boils
----------
Women's E-News
With the Arab and Islamic world on the boil, the whole
question of women and women's progress has been brushed
aside, reports Barbara Crossette in The New York Times:
"In the war of militant Islam against the infidel West,
there is a chilling paradox. Nowhere -- not on
protesters banners, pre-suicide videos or posters -- is
there a woman's face." (11/05/01)
