Hello ifeminists:
As I write this editorial, the towers of the N.Y. World Trade center
are on fire from what is clearly a terrorist attack. Smoke seems to be
pouring out of the Pentagon as well. I am in shock. And I fear a backlash
against *all* radicalism is likely to occur in the political wake, even
where the radical voices are calling for non-violence.=20
And now, this instant, one of the Trade Center towers has just
collapsed. Forgive me. I have no small talk. =20

Homeschooling, a feminist challenge
----------
by Wendy McElroy
"In quiet mutiny against the quality and content of
government education, a growing number of women are
choosing to stay at home to teach their children
one-on-one." Part of the motivation for the exodus is
public schools propagandizing for anti-male, politically
correct ideas. (09/04/01)

Affirmative Action is a bad idea
----------
by Stanley Kurtz
Kurtz speculates on why affirmative action for women "has
been quietly suppressed by both Democrats and
Republicans." It is too politically hot to handle.

School offers scholarship to gays
----------
by Jay Lindsay
A Massachusetts college is offering a scholarship to gay
and lesbian students, which is the perogative of any
institution with private funding. The state is pledged
match whatever funds the college raises, however, and
that's another matter. (09/09/01)

False accusations of sexual assault disturbingly common
----------
by Christie Blatchford

Our unwarranted ban on polygamy
----------
by Steve Chapman
"We generally no longer enforce laws against fornication,
adultery and sodomy, which are regarded as infringements
on the right of people to live their lives as they
choose. Still, though a man may have five girlfriends,
and a woman may enjoy several suitors, the law says
spouses are one to a customer." (08/30/01)

Lost pregnancy affects opinion on stem cell research
----------
by Lisa Moricoli Latham
The pro-life take on the stem cell debate is far from the
viability-based arguments of yore. The debate turns on
the question of whether the earliest union of sperm and
egg inside the womb is as much a "person" as that in a
petri dish. Latham's lost pregnancy makes her more
receptive to the research than before. (09/05/01)

Girls are no good at genocide
----------
by Alyssa Elver
Humor. "Sure, there have been a couple of evil girls, but
they're never as evil as the boys. Nothing on the level
of Idi Amin, this boy who killed 300,000 Christians in
Uganda during the 1970s." Elver wishes she were a boy.

Genocide: incorporating the gender variable
----------
by Adam Jones
Arguing that "the gender variable is one of the
least-analyzed and most misunderstood elements of
