Hello ifeminists:
A good morning -- cold and crisp, with every cat in the house
crowded around the small heater in my workroom. (The dogs are
dominating the floor in front of the airtight stove.) Strong coffee,
bright sunlight, a great night's sleep ... I think a stint of
productive writing is in the offing. I hope all is equally well with
you.
David Theroux of the Independent Institute
<http://www.independent.org/> gently chides me for not giving myself
enough credit in the last InsiderUpdate. I am not an "intern" with
II; I occupy the far most august position of "fellow." Sorry David,
but that won't do. A feminist cannot be called "a fellow" of an
Institute. I'm holding out for "Swell Gay" of II, and I won't settle
for less. ;-)
These have been financially difficult times for institutes and
organizations, and I want to personally thank every one of you who
has offered donations, directed people toward our site, given us the
compliment of remaining here and not clicking that remote... The site
breaks its own record each month with the number of hits it receives,
and your support -- in all its manifestations -- is what makes it
possible for us to continue.
I want to also thank Tooch, Jerome D. Tuccille, for helping to
keep the site running smoothly. Drop by the front page
(http://www.ifeminists.com/homepage/), where he is ifeminist of the
month, and say "hi."
The new weekly editorials are up and running. My FOX/ifeminist
column entitled "Stand Up for Yourself"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1203.html>;
Glenn Sacks' excellent "Is Pay a Function of Gender Bias"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1203a.html>;
and, Tresa McBee's latest, "Hold Your (kid's) Head High"
<http://www.ifeminists.com/introduction/editorials/2002/1203b.html>.
Enjoy!
Now ... onto the main event...
